Starting from the consideration that movement guides perception and vice versa, analysis of perceptual aspects of cerebral palsy is conducted on three distinct levels: on the first one basic information collected by sensitive and sensorial organs based on their specific configuration; on the second level, perceptions, understood as multimodal analysis of CNS on the collected information, by seeking its internal coherence; on the third level mental representations, procedural memories on which the organization of possible future actions is based. Movement and perception are integrated together into the concept of motor control. For the effectiveness of information collected on the first level, in addition to modality, intensity, duration and localization are important factors. For the second-level perceptions, the intrinsic coherence of collected information and the interpretative framework adopted are essential. To organize an action, recognition (pictorial vision) of surrounding objects is completed with the evocation of possible actions performable with them (pragmatic vision). The opposite situation is represented by various types of neglect. The brain can govern the collection of information through processes of amplification, calibration, selection, rivalry, confusion or suppression. Motor programming implies an anticipatory balance of the information that will be collected when doing a certain action. Behaviours, such as exhaustion of postural control (straighten-up child) or fear of moving (falling child) are the consequence of errors made on the perceptual level and not strictly on the motor one.
