This chapter describes the main locomotor patterns of diplegic children: propulsive forms with or without the use of mobile devices for upper limbs, tight skirt forms with and without crutches, tightrope walkers with and without canes, and lastly daredevil children with generalized or distal palsy expression. Kinesiologic analysis evaluates control capability of central pattern generators, position of head, plane of oscillation of trunk, motor performance of upper limbs in combination with those of lower ones, proximal fixation and movements of pelvis, step pattern, choice of fulcrums for progression, and ability to stop gait. In addition to motor features, executive functions, perceptive aspects, manipulation characteristics, secondary deformities, and effects of surgical corrections are considered. Optoelectronic stereophotogrammetric analysis of gait is able to confirm the nature of adopted locomotor pattern. Description of double hemiplegia and elements that distinguish this CP form from true diplegias complete this chapter.
