Non-perovskite ABO3 compounds such as bixbyite FeMnO3 or ilmenite FeTiO3 are known to exhibit interesting structural and physical properties. Structure and physical properties are strongly correlated and also depends upon the composition of the compounds. These compounds have found interesting applications as anode materials for lithium-ion batteries, magnetoelectrics etc. Structural and physical these compounds are reviewed here to bring out their application potential and future scope in designing materials for next generation electronics, catalysts and magnetic devices.
