The climate crisis and associated environmental challenges, including air pollution, are among the greatest threats to human health and global prosperity and security. The port sector is the key tool, together with shipping, for international trade. Nowadays, ports focus on business and non-business purposes, specifically environmental concerns surrounding the ports (green port concept). On the other hand, over time, people with disabilities face significant challenges that prevent them from making the most of their abilities, resulting in a lack of contribution to societies and economies. It is also a gross injustice and a violation of their rights. The study focuses on Greece, where disability benefits are lower than internationally. It has the lowest expenditure internationally on disability benefits as a percentage of GDP. Quantitative and qualitative approaches were applied to collect the required information. Significant deficiencies and problems were recorded in the port area (the assessment of the level of accessibility in the port areas indicated that only 22% were satisfied). In contrast, the perceived quality of the port services the port offers for disabled people is significantly linked to the accessibility and mobility opportunities offered. A conceptual framework was designed to describe the factors affecting the port area to improve the problem, focusing on the green port concept. This aligns with the reader's increased interest in environmental issues. The study proposes adopting appropriate operations and infrastructures to upgrade the port’s services, especially the green port.
