This article examines how the bridges linking Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia can serve as valuable assets in fostering Scientific Tourism. Through an exploratory and qualitative approach, based on a literature review and technical visits carried out between October 17 and 19, 2024, seven bridges over the Douro River with historical, architectural and engineering value were analyzed. The study demonstrates that these infrastructures, in addition to their functional role, represent important milestones in the technical-scientific and identity evolution of the region. Each bridge reveals constructive particularities and distinct historical contexts that can be integrated into educational and scientific dissemination programs. The application of Scientific Tourism in these contexts promotes the connection between science, heritage and community, contributing to the enhancement of the territory, public education and local sustainable development. The analysed bridges— including the D. Maria Pia Bridge, D. Luís I Bridge, Arrábida Bridge and São João Bridge — were studied with a focus on their structural and historical aspects and their potential to enrich immersive tourist experiences of a scientific nature.
