Mentoring has taken on an increasingly important role in the context of higher education and is recognized as an effective practice for promoting students’ academic, personal and professional development. Several studies show that well-structured mentoring relationships increase motivation, persistence and integration into the university environment. This article briefly reviews the literature on the contributions of mentoring in higher education. Based on this theoretical foundation, the authors present the mentoring course developed at a Portuguese higher education institution. The course was developed as part of an Erasmus+ project (Difree). This project aims to fill the gap between academic knowledge and the current needs of recent university graduates. More concretely, this mentoring course aims to support students (or other interested parties) and teachers (or other parties interested in mentoring students) in the process of becoming freelancers. This work aims to contribute to the consolidation of mentoring as a strategic pedagogical tool while offering a concrete and replicable proposal for other institutions interested in implementing similar programs.

摘要
