The Use of Artificial Intelligence as an Assistant in Software Development to Enhance Learning and Academic Performance in University Students

Artificial intelligence (AI) has revolutionized multiple sectors such as Health, Cybersecurity, Entertainment and even in higher education, this study analyzes the impact of AI as an assistant in the development of computer programs aimed at improving learning and academic performance of students attending university. A mixed approach was applied, combining quantitative and qualitative analysis, with participants from a local higher education institution in the city of Ambato in the Tungurahua province of Ecuador. The results showed improvements in the personalization of learning for each student, optimization of study time and greater retention of knowledge; however, some challenges were also identified, such as resistance to change and technological dependence. It is concluded that AI has great potential as an educational tool, as long as it is used ethically, consciously and complementary to traditional teaching-learning methods.
