Technical Considerations for the Deployment of 5G Networks in Heritage Environments: Analysis of the Case of Quito
摘要
Deploying 5G networks in heritage-protected environments poses significant technical and regulatory challenges due to architectural constraints and preservation policies. This study analyzes the feasibility and design considerations for implementing 5G infrastructure in the Historic Center of Quito, Ecuador - UNESCO World Heritage Site. The objective is to identify viable technical strategies that balance modern connectivity requirements with heritage conservation principles. This article focuses on showing technical considerations to the specific problems that arise when deploying 5G mobile networks in heritage sites, where technological demands, such as the need for much closer stations, clash with the preservation of cultural and architectural heritage. Some options for implementation are explored, and case studies of experiences in other countries are studied.
