Nowadays, Computational Thinking (CT) has assumed a fundamental role as a strategy applicable in the educational field, since it involves problem solving, system design and understanding of human behavior. This research focuses on assessing the level of CP development in Computer Science students recently admitted to the University. The sample included students from the National University of Loja during the academic period 2022–2023, using a quantitative approach and an instrument adapted from the Bebras Challenge global platform. Previous and acquired skills were compared after a blended workshop implemented in the subject Programming Theory. The results revealed improvements in algorithmic thinking (90%) and abstraction (90%) skills, while decomposition showed greater difficulties (75%). These findings suggest the need to incorporate strategies for strengthening CP from the first levels of academic training, with special emphasis on problem decomposition skills.

摘要
