Ethics in Communication Through Digital Animation
摘要
Digital animation is a key tool in current communication, used for ed. ucational and entertainment purposes as well as for disinformation and propa ganda. In the political sphere, it has been used to manipulate public perception and reinforce polarizing narratives. A relevant case is the Ecuadorian 2025 presidential campaign, where digital animations were disseminated to discredit candidates Daniel Noboa and Luisa González. Through satirical cartoons and videos, public opinion was sought to be influenced through platforms such as TikTok, YouTube and Facebook. This essay analyzes the relationship between digital communication, animation and ethics, with a focus on disinformation and propaganda. The methodology used consists of a case study of the Ecuadorian 2025 campaign, examining specific examples of disseminated animations and their impact on citizens. Through a qualitative analysis, patterns in their use and viralization are identified, contrasting them with previous studies on digital disinformation. The results show that digital animation can be an effective tool for political manipulation, especially when combined with social media algorithms. Gaps in the regulation of this content are identified, as well as the need for measures to mitigate its impact. Finally, strategies are proposed to promote an ethical use of animation, including greater media literacy, stricter regulations and the commitment of creators to truthful reporting.
