Investigating Quality Management Practices in Building Construction Projects in Akure, Nigeria

The construction industry in Nigeria plays a critical role in economic development, yet faces persistent challenges related to quality management that affect project outcomes. This research investigates quality management practices in Nigerian construction industry. Data was gathered through structured questionnaires distributed among key industry professionals. The findings indicate that factors such as project scope, organizational culture, and resource allocation play a crucial role in shaping quality outcomes. Moreover, regulatory compliance and market competition are identified as particularly influential drivers. The study further underscores the widespread adoption of Total Quality Management (TQM) and ISO 9001, reflecting a notable shift toward standardized quality management practices. This study concludes that effective implementation of quality management practices significantly extends asset lifespan, reduces defects, and improves project productivity. Recommendations include enhancing workforce training, increasing stakeholder engagement, and adopting innovative technologies to strengthen quality outcomes in construction projects.
