Poetry Improvisation as Problem-Solving in Distributed Cognitive Systems
摘要
The chapter analyzes repente (Brazilian oral improvised poetry) as a Distributed Cognitive System (DCS). The DCS is defined by the emergent sign repente (sign-in-action), which is irreducible to the individual agents or artifacts involved. Artifacts like the guitar and the rhyme structures externalize temporal and metric restrictions, structuring the process as a problem-solving task. The distributed system makes repente emerge as a habitual pattern of sign-action, via continuous inferential activity (abduction, deduction, induction). This is a view of distributed cognition not centered in agents, but in emergent semiotic habits.
