Medical treatment for ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack (in addition to specific acute recanalization therapy, i.e., intravenous thrombolysis) focuses mainly on secondary prevention to achieve long-term compensation for vascular risk factors and reduce the risk of recurrent stroke.
