In the previous chaptersCorrelated Basis Function, we emphasised that a naive application of perturbation theory should be avoided in the description of many-body systems due to the strongly repulsive core of the bare particle-particle interaction. In this Part III we show how this problem is addressed in theories inspired by Statistical Mechanics. The perspective shifts from interaction to correlation. In Chap. 11 we present the Correlated Basis Function theory.
