One of the contemporary prognostications in cybersecurity is that with investment, effort, and innovation the problem of technical cybersecurity will disappear. The hope is that machines may prevent the oft-repeated mistakes or weaknesses that become vulnerabilities which serve as avenues for cyberattack. An answer to contemporary cybersecurity problems is the massive application of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) approaches. The emphasis of this chapter is to identify relevant thrusts in the mushrooming literature in AI/ML cybersecurity and explain how new technological approaches may be applied to military cybersecurity missions, both on offense and defense and translate them to the international security issues faced by states. This work is undertaken in times of great fear and distrust of AI as well as significant technical breakthroughs and massive investment.

摘要
