Information quality (IQ) is critical to data science, communication theory and application, knowledge management and management in general, including product development and improvement. Despite the dynamic growth of information technology, the field lacks comprehensive methodologies for engineering management specialist information quality assessment and improvement. The main objective of the study is to develop the concept of a systematic approach to information quality analysis. In this work, information is defined from the infological perspective, in which the “user view” approach is included. In this model, the information conveyed by some data depends on the semantic or the infological framework of the user – engineers involved in the process of product development. Information quality is defined with reference to the general theory of quality, using a non-hierarchical qualitative categorization. The main postulates and elected elements related with the development of the Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TRIZ) are discussed. The system approach of TRIZ invented thinking is applied to recognize the interconnections and mutual influences between the set of characteristics of information quality. The interdisciplinarity of the qualitative modelling is indicated and possible directions for future studies are discussed. The results of the study constitute a theoretical framework for the further studies and applications related to improvement activities for information quality analysis and assessment in engineering management practice.

摘要
