This chapter examines the energy transition and climate policy landscape in the Galapagos Islands through the Social-Ecological-Technological Systems (SETs) framework. Despite national goals and international support, the islands remain heavily reliant on fossil fuels, particularly for transportation and electricity. Through policy analysis of six key documents, the chapter explores barriers to renewable energy adoption, including ecological constraints, social dynamics, and technological limitations. It identifies hybrid systems as the most promising path forward and offers guiding principles for sustainable development. The chapter emphasises the importance of integrated policymaking that balances ecological preservation, technological innovation, and community engagement in remote island contexts.

摘要
