Urban development is a process of planned growth, expansion, and transformation of towns and cities. It embraces a wide range of activities and ideas to improve the quality of life, enhance new economic opportunities, and increase resilience by providing a sustainable environment to urban places. The contribution of geospatial technologies can’t be denied in urban development, as it provides indispensable spatial data insights and tools that inform decision-making, optimize resource allocation to enhance the overall process of planning and management. The rational role of geospatial technologies in the modification of urban societies according to advanced urban planning, strengthened by real-world examples, is unavoidable. Remote sensing (RS) and geographic information systems (GIS) revolutionize the conventional planning practices by incorporating their analytical and predictive ability. The capabilities of geospatial technologies to provide efficient access to precise spatial data that could enhance the decision-making procedure in planning and development of urban communities are not negligible. It illuminates the efficacy and accuracy of these tools in evaluating the spatial features in urban planning. In addition, the chapter also validates the authentication and importance of geospatial tools in sustainable urban planning with real-world paradigms of varied urban domains, comprising infrastructure management, optimization of land-use-land-cover (LULC), design of transportation networks, and sustainable environment. It explores the means by which geospatial technologies modify the planning process, empowering community participation and interactive mapping platforms. The chapter would serve as a valued reserve for urban planners, legislators, and practitioners, presenting a detailed insight into the influence of geospatial technologies for inclusive, sustainable, and resilient urban communities in the future.

摘要
