摘要
This volume presents a collection of research papers and case studies presented in the international conference “Opportunities for Heritage: Fostering Innovation, Conservation, and Sustainability”, held at the German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech) from February 24th to 27th, 2024. Organized by the UNESCO Chair for World Heritage and Sustainable Tourism Management in the Arab Region, the conference served as a dynamic platform for interdisciplinary dialogue among scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and community actors. The conference explored how heritage can be repositioned as a catalyst for innovation, community development, and sustainable development. The discussions focused on key themes like digital heritage, heritage in conflict zones, heritage investment, and entrepreneurship in heritage and tourism at World Heritage sites. The conference and this volume contribute to a growing body of scholarship advocating for integrated and future-oriented approaches to cultural heritage management. The papers presented in this volume span diverse geographical and cultural contexts, offering both theoretical insights and practical examples.
