The Metaverse and Web 3.0: A Pathway Towards Value Generation
摘要
This chapter delves into the evolution from Web 2.0 to Web 3.0, with a particular emphasis on the Metaverse and associated technologies such as cryptocurrencies and blockchain. In a context marked by the burgeoning adoption of these terms within the digital landscape, the article endeavors to elucidate the distinctions between Web 2.0 and Web 3.0, underscoring how the latter embodies a paradigm predicated upon decentralization, privacy, and user empowerment. Through a meticulous technological analysis, it examines the business models and value-creation strategies inherent to Web 3.0. Furthermore, the article accentuates the necessity of a holistic approach that incorporates a robust legal framework, an aspect frequently overlooked in extant literature. Concrete use cases and managerial insights are presented, along with a contemplation of prospective future developments and the unresolved challenges that persist within the realms of Web 3.0 and the Metaverse. Moreover, a factual methodology for managing Metaverse use cases is presented, namely, the GUEST methodology. It is a structured framework designed to guide organizations in identifying use cases, articulating value propositions, and implementing Web 3.0 and Metaverse initiatives. By integrating business model innovation with technological feasibility, GUEST provides a roadmap for navigating the complexities of decentralized ecosystems, ensuring alignment with stakeholder objectives and regulatory requirements.
