The increasing amount of garbage disposal in the drainages is one of the main problems of the people living in the community since garbage can be found in the waterways which can cause different health-risks diseases, clogging in the spillway and flooding when raining. Thus, a study was conducted to help community collect solid wastes floating in the drainages or irrigational canal. The prototype was designed and fabricated for small-scale application that was cost effective compared with hiring people to manually clean up the community drainage or irrigation canal. The prototype machine was tested to filter and collect garbage. It was determined that the machine can filter and collect an average of 15.92 kg of garbage per day within a certain location. The machine prototype also has an average performance efficiency of 84.06% in collecting solid wastes based on the solid wastes weight and 77.39% efficiency performance based on collecting per piece of solid wastes. Cost analysis was conducted between the fabrication of prototype and hiring people to manually clean up the drainage or irrigational canal where the usage of prototype can save up to Php 18,031.68 (318 USD) a year to clean the drainage canal manually. The prototype was designed to aid a community with pressing problems in garbage collection specifically in the drainage canals.
