The Political Preferences and Turnout of Colombian Women Voters: 2018–2023
摘要
This chapter analyses women’s political preferences in Colombia and examines whether a gender gap appears in voter turnout during the 2018, 2020 and 2023 elections. The analysis reveals that women in Colombia are slightly more inclined to vote right-wing compared to men. At the same time, self-placement on the left–right political spectrum influences voting decisions, whereas factors such as age, social class, racial identity do not show statistically significant effects. In terms of turnout, the results reveal a gender gap, with women participating to a lesser extent than men. This chapter also presents the conceptual framework of the study and its contextual background in Colombia. The methodology consisted of a statistical analysis combining descriptive and inferential approaches that used primary data from Latinobarómetro surveys through linear and logistic regressions.
