This chapter examines how religious congregations can move from inadvertent exclusion to faithful inclusion of children with developmental disabilities and their families. It proposes a ten-dimension framework of belonging—included, invited, welcomed, known, accepted, supported, heard, befriended, needed, and loved—and recommends congregational postures and practices in each area. Guided by universal design, the chapter urges proactive planning that anticipates diverse abilities, prioritizes flexible worship and learning, and centers family voices in decision-making. It highlights the mixed experiences of families, addresses attitudes and supports required for meaningful participation, and calls for intentional outreach and partnerships with disability organizations. Finally, the chapter identifiest research priorities focused on advancing a vision of faith communities where all children belong and flourish.
