Agrarian Society and Gender Dynamics in the Tech Era
摘要
Gender relations have historical and sociological dimensions in rural societies. Societal norms express traditional farming methods. Contemporary agricultural technology continues to reflect prevailing societal standards. Social, economic, and policy factors influence agrarian technology adoption. Agriculture is characterized by patriarchy, which is inherently political, and gender relationships at the micro, meso, and macro level are political in nature. Consequently, women face multifaceted obstacles and possibilities in the agricultural sector that influence productivity and performance. This chapter is based on research conducted by Gerda Lerner and Carolyn Merchant, who examined gender dynamics and their consequent effects on agricultural development. A salient aspect of the discourse is the acknowledgment of women’s rights as human rights. Gender inequalities persist in resource access and decision-making. Political action is necessary to attain equal pay and equal opportunities in the agricultural industry.
