Gender and Artificial Intelligence
摘要
The global technological revolution in AI is reshaping civilizations; however, its impact is not gender-neutral. This chapter critically examines the gendered aspects of the technological revolution, drawing on the scholarship of Boserup, Agarwal, Akram-Lodhi, Doss, Quisumbing, Tsikata, Judy Wajcman, Gerda Lerner, Crenshaw, Collins, and Fraser. Resource restrictions and social norms continue to create barriers that limit women’s participation in technology, which in turn limits women’s access to technological benefits. Stereotypes related to gender (in the way men/women are perceived to be able to use/develop technology) can exacerbate women’s professional disadvantages. Emerging technologies offer the opportunity to reshape existing power structures. To achieve the goal of sustainable development in areas such as education, health, and agriculture, this chapter calls for an innovative, inclusive approach to creating products/technology by a team of developers who reflect a feminist perspective.
