Using fossil fuels as the energyEnergy source for transportation, power plants, and industries has increased the release of carbon dioxideCarbon dioxide and other contaminants in the environment, increasing the greenhouse gas effect on our planet. The present study highlights hydrogen as a fuel that gradually replaces fossil fuels, reducing the presence of carbon dioxideCarbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Two different methods of hydrogen production are presented: electrolysis and steam reforming. Although hydrogen is abundant in the universe, it cannot be freely found on our Earth. Limitations and challenges of the production and storageStorage of hydrogen are also discussed.
