The chapter explores the emergence and development of hidden champion companies in Latvia, small to mid-sized enterprises that have achieved significant global market leadership in specialised niches while remaining largely under the radar. Building on prior regional research, the study examines the evolution of previously identified hidden champions. It introduces new ones, analysing their key success factors, innovation strategies, and resilience in times of crisis. Utilising a PESTEL framework, the chapter contextualises the Latvian economic and political environment that shapes business opportunities and constraints. Two detailed case studies of Primekss SIA and SIA Peruza illustrate how innovation, leadership, export orientation, and adaptability have enabled these firms to thrive despite challenges such as geopolitical instability, labour shortages, and the COVID-19 pandemic. The findings highlight common characteristics across firms: strong and visionary leadership, commitment to innovation, focus on high-quality customised products, and a strong export orientation. The chapter concludes with recommendations for governments, financial institutions, and higher education institutions to nurture and support the hidden champion ecosystem in Latvia. The study underscores the pivotal role these companies play in driving economic resilience, technological advancement, and sustainable growth in small, open economies like Latvia.
