The imaging assessment of the temporal bone is challenging because it houses anatomically complex and minute structures of the auditory and vestibular systems. The commonly used imaging techniques include the high-resolution computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, with each modality playing a distinct role depending on the clinical scenario. In this chapter we briefly describe their principles and give instructions for their application in clinical practice.

摘要

The imaging assessment of the temporal bone is challenging because it houses anatomically complex and minute structures of the auditory and vestibular systems. The commonly used imaging techniques include the high-resolution computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, with each modality playing a distinct role depending on the clinical scenario. In this chapter we briefly describe their principles and give instructions for their application in clinical practice.
