EBRAFire 2.0, an Existing Building Risk Assessment for Fire, is a method developed in response to the ongoing need for research in building fire safety, due to the complex and unpredictable nature of fire-related risks. It is particularly relevant for existing buildings, which often present safety deficiencies, either because such risks were not regulated at the time of construction, or due to deterioration and lack of proper maintenance over time. Based on regulatory reviews and statistical data, this model evaluates fire risks through on-site inspections and issues a Fire Safety Certificate (FSC), grading the Safety of the building on a measurable scale. The FSC also compiles essential safety data into a single document, supporting decisions on interventions, real estate evaluations, insurance, legal matters, and property transactions. The model also aids urban planning by identifying risk areas and informing emergency response efforts.
