The construction industry is undergoing a critical transformation as sustainability becomes integral to civil engineering project delivery. This study examines strategies for embedding environmental, social, and economic sustainability into project management frameworks. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of peer-reviewed studies from 2018 to 2024, the research identifies key barriers, including high upfront costs, fragmented regulations, limited stakeholder awareness, and technological integration challenges. The findings highlight effective practices such as early-stage sustainable design, stakeholder collaboration, adoption of green materials, and integration of advanced tools like Building Information Modeling (BIM) and IoT-based monitoring. Technological trends, including artificial intelligence and modular construction, are shown to enhance decision-making and resource efficiency. Practical recommendations emphasize aligning sustainability with organizational strategy, strengthening governance frameworks, and fostering multidisciplinary collaboration. The study contributes actionable insights for policymakers, developers, and engineers, supporting the transition toward resilient, future-proof infrastructure. By integrating sustainability as a core principle, the construction sector can address climate resilience goals while ensuring long-term economic and societal benefits.
