In the context of global warming the study emphasizes the need to address both operational and embodied carbon to meet 2050 decarbonization goals. Using whole life cycle carbon (WLCC) analysis, the paper identifies renovation strategies with the greatest carbon savings. It considers grid decarbonization and future climate scenario as an important part of discussion.
