Tabique Buildings in the Alto Douro Wine Region. The Rehabilitation Strategy
摘要
Since the end of the twentieth century, the rehabilitation and strengthening of historic buildings have become essential for regenerating European urban heritage. This strategy has allowed for the preservation of cultural architectural heritage while minimizing environmental impact compared to complete demolition and new construction. This paper describes and discusses the approach taken to repair and renovate Tabique historic buildings located in the Alto Douro Wine Region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Portugal. The strategy employed here is unique compared to traditional rehabilitation methods commonly applied to similar historic structures, indicating that the decision-making process is complex. Factors such as the availability of skilled labor and construction contractors can influence the chosen approach for each building type and location.
