Pedras Salgadas is a village located in the Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro region, in northeastern Portugal. In the early twentieth century, it experienced a construction boom driven by the thermal water industry, attracting the upper class for medical and leisure purposes. Numerous Art Nouveau-style buildings were constructed during this period. However, following the decline of the thermal industry, many of these buildings were abandoned and deteriorated. In recent years, several emblematic structures have been successfully rehabilitated. This paper aims to document and analyze the rehabilitation processes of these traditional buildings.
