Making Decisions Under Uncertainty
摘要
In this chapter, Formal Hypothesis Testing (FHT) is briefly presented as a method for taking decisions in the presence of random experimental errors. The null and alternative hypotheses are defined, and FHT is introduced using Monte Carlo methods, to illustrate how decisions are made by considering the sampling distribution of test statistics under the null hypothesis. Examples are provided for Wald t-tests, traditional t-tests, and F-tests in ANOVA.
