This chapter outlines the broader research context within which this work is situated. Background archaeological studies of hunter-gatherers in Patagonia provide knowledge based on various lines of analysis. These baseline studies provide insights into when the first colonizers arrived in the region, the technologies they used, their diet, their communication methods, their mobility strategies, and how they inhabited the landscape. This work contributes new information on landscape use and mobility in the La Primavera locality. One of the most significant contributions to the methodological aspects of this research is the Spatial Archaeology approach and its quantitative perspective, which is mediated by the application of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) to identify spatial patterns.
