Exploring the Integration of BIM in Civil Engineering Education: A Look at Current Practices in Spain
摘要
This study focuses on a comprehensive analysis of subjects incorporating BIM (Building Information Modeling) content within current Civil Engineering curricula in Spain, at both undergraduate and master’s levels. Given that BIM application is now mandatory in public construction contracts exceeding a certain budget, it is crucial for future professionals to possess these skills and competencies. To conduct this analysis, public study guides were reviewed. The process involved an initial automated search for key BIM-related terms, obtaining a first filtered set, followed by an in-depth examination of the available information in each guide. The findings provide an overview of the current state of BIM integration in the civil engineering curricula, revealing that the methodology is being gradually adopted across most programs at a national level. This implementation underscores the growing recognition of BIM's importance in the industry and highlights the efforts being made to equip students with the necessary tools to meet future demands.
