Insights into Gen-Z Values for Affective Human Resource Management
摘要
Understanding the values of employees is crucial for effective human re-source management, particularly when managing generational differences. The key changes occurred during the transition from the traditional to the modern, and then to the postmodern information society. Through generations, differences in values are perceived. Generation Z, the cohort currently entering the workforce, brings with them a distinct set of values that shape their expectations and behaviours in professional environments. This paper explores the core values of Generation Z by surveying 51 university students in Slovenia, using the Musek Values Scale to categorize their values into Apollonian and Dionysian types. The results reveal that Generation Z places the highest importance on values such as health, freedom, security, and justice, while placing less emphasis on material success and competition. These findings provide valuable insights for organizations aiming to align their HR policies with the priorities of this generation. By understanding these values, companies can better attract, engage, and retain young talent. The study concludes with recommendations for human resource management, highlighting the importance of fostering a work environment that supports personal well-being, ethical principles, and continuous learning.
