This chapter examines social and health care professionalism in the context of the collaborative governance reform and within citizen co-production. The main argument is that in current political environments highlighting co-production, key components of professionalism and professional service provision are changing. The chapter unpacks these components specifically through two examples: increased reliance on volunteers in care work and increased reliance on digitalized self-care of health. Therefore, the chapter provides a framework to study professionalism in the light of citizen co-production and collaborative governance.
