Tools for Combating Online Disinformation: From Self-Regulation to the Digital Services Act

The contribution analyses the path taken by AGCOM, as the national communications authority, in regulating online disinformation. It highlights the evolution of the tools available to the authority to combat the spread of online disinformation content: from national self-regulatory initiatives to the implementation of the Digital Services Act. The phases of this process highlight the need for a systemic approach to the problem of online disinformation and the need to carefully balance individual rights.
