This chapter, after some due introduction, aims to provide a general overview of the merits and limits of the regulatory approach, adopted by the Data Governance Act (DGA), to the issue of data sharing, from a private law perspective. The chapter identifies the issues that need to be addressed in order to ascertain whether the regulation is really suitable to pursue the promised benefits.
