This article aims to review the literature on the role of management control in identifying, assessing and mitigating inventory management risks, highlighting the use of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. The latter, integrated into management control practice, enables improved visibility, traceability and accuracy in inventory management, while reducing the risks associated with stock-outs, surpluses and losses. We searched the international scientific literature in English and French, including the Web of Science and Scopus databases. Emphasis was placed on case studies, technological tools and risk management techniques applied to inventory management. The results show that integrating IoT sensors to collect real-time data on stock levels, storage conditions (temperature, humidity, etc.) and goods movements offers a proactive approach to risk management. This approach minimizes operational failures and strengthens decision-making based on reliable, real-time data. The joint use of management control and IoT technologies is proving particularly effective in optimizing inventory management processes and reducing the costs associated with logistical inefficiencies. This work makes a relevant contribution to the literature on the digital transformation of inventory management, while proposing avenues for the gradual adoption of IoT tools in management control systems.

摘要
