Gastrointestinal Drugs in Scleroderma and GI Dysmotility
摘要
Gastrointestinal (GI) dysmotility is a common yet complex symptom in many patients with scleroderma and other rheumatic disease. This chapter provides a comprehensive review of the pharmacological management of GI motility disorders common in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc), focusing on the different segments of the GI tract. Therapeutic agents covered include cholinergic agonists, prokinetic agents, promotility antibiotics, laxatives, opioid antagonists, among others. While several medications do show promise in improving GI symptoms in SSc patients, their full utility remains incompletely understood. Future research must focus on optimizing existing pharmacological strategies to better target and improve outcomes in patients with scleroderma-related GI dysfunction.
