Ukraine’s bioenergy sector is growing rapidly despite the challenges posed by geopolitical tensions and economic restrictions during the full-scale war. Bioenergy is an important element of Ukraine’s new energy strategy. It involves the use of huge internal resources for energy production, primarily agricultural waste, wood resources and household waste. Ukraine has the potential to meet up to 20% of the EU’s needs for bio-methane production and compete with any European country. Ukraine is involved in bioenergy programs and initiatives together with European partners. Ukraine’s energy strategy is oriented towards European integration and aims to create a zero-emission energy system. Indicators of bioenergy losses of Ukraine during the war were analysed. Biomethane projects planned for launch in 2024 were provided. Key projects of bioenergy enterprises, which are planned to be put into operation in 2025, are described.
