Similar to the changes in our conversation with the parents, we had to update our discussions with trainees concerning the management of certain NICU-related conditions. Changes in the management of respiratory distress syndrome (RDS), neonatal opioid withdrawal, and neonatal resuscitation guidelines are just an example of the changes. Other than discussing medical topics with trainees, we also discuss certain aspects of NICU care that they cannot find in textbooks. Our goal is to have a new generation of providers who are up to date on their knowledge and skills, but at the same time have some idea how we got to where we are today.
