Higher Education’s Geopolitical Agency: A Constructivist Perspective
摘要
This chapter delves into the intricate two-way relationship between higher education and geopolitics. Departing from classical state-centric geopolitics, it embraces a constructivist strand of critical geopolitics, exploring the actorhood of higher education in the process of making and doing geopolitics, rather than being a mere vehicle for it. This chapter demonstrates how higher education plays multifaceted roles in interacting with and contributing to geopolitical structures at various scales that incorporate with, but are not limited to, the interrelated dimensions of international partnerships formation, knowledge production, and (im)mobility brokering. In doing so, this chapter invites further research into the evolving roles of higher education in global geopolitics and offers an indicative framework for analyzing its geopolitical engagements.
