This chapter describes methods for improving the accuracy in identifying cognitive deficits in neurologic patients. It describes normal variability and pattern recognition in the evaluation of localized, lateralized, or diffuse cognitive deficits from various etiologies. This chapter assists neuropsychologists and neurologists in understanding the normal variability in a normal population and discriminating the variability produced from specific neurologic deficits.

摘要

This chapter describes methods for improving the accuracy in identifying cognitive deficits in neurologic patients. It describes normal variability and pattern recognition in the evaluation of localized, lateralized, or diffuse cognitive deficits from various etiologies. This chapter assists neuropsychologists and neurologists in understanding the normal variability in a normal population and discriminating the variability produced from specific neurologic deficits.
