Forms of Democracy and Socialist Self-Management in Czechoslovak Industry, 1945–1969

Immediately after the Second World War (which meant the end of six and half years of German occupation for Bohemia and Moravia and of the almost equally long-lived puppet Slovak State), the restored Czechoslovakia remained among the most industrialized countries of central Europe. Its labour force in industry constituted roughly half of the gainfully employed population, and it was based on a strong local tradition of a labour movementLabour movement.
