Howrah Railway Station: A Catalyst for Regional Growth and Development in India
摘要
The Howrah Railway Station located in West Bengal, India, has been an integral part of the region’s transportation network for over a century. In this paper, we examine the socio-economic impacts of this railway station on the surrounding region. By analysing existing literature and conducting key informant interviews, we find that the Howrah Railway Station has acted as a catalyst for regional growth and development through improved transport accessibility, increased employment opportunities, and the clustering of economic activities in the surrounding areas. Furthermore, we provide recommendations for policymakers aimed at maximising the benefits associated with this critical infrastructure. Ultimately, this study highlights the role of transportation infrastructure in driving regional development and underscores the importance of investing in these critical assets for sustained and inclusive economic growth.
