Opposition to diversity, in psychology and beyond, stems from a fear that in-group supremacy will be lost and when its consequent inequality is unravelled. Arguments that psychology should strive to be apolitical are flawed—political factors significantly impact human well-being, and pretending to be neutral is futile. Psychologists, like everyone else, have political views, and hiding them is disingenuous. Embracing diversity is essential for good science. This is especially true for psychology, as a field with a skewed representation cannot accurately study the human experience. Actively promoting diversity is a moral and professional duty for psychologists, even if it draws criticism. It is not a political bias but a necessary stance to ensure the field is inclusive and scientifically sound.
