This systematic review investigates the integration and application of blockchain technology in the banking industry, based on an analysis of 818 documents retrieved from the Scopus database covering the period from 2010 to 2023. Through a structured and transparent review process, this study synthesizes the current body of research, identifying key trends, challenges, and opportunities in the adoption of blockchain within the financial sector. The systematic review methodology offers significant advantages, including a comprehensive aggregation of relevant literature, a clear identification of research gaps, and an objective framework for understanding the evolution of blockchain technology in banking. Furthermore, the bibliometric analysis enhances the study by providing insights into influential publications, citation patterns, and emerging research directions. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of the transformative potential of blockchain technology in the banking industry, offering valuable guidance for both academic scholars and industry practitioners.
